Sweetpea Smoothie
Did you know that many protein powders are based on pea protein?
So why not go directly to the source, and throw some frozen peas into your smoothie?
Peas are a great source for protein, as well as antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. In fact, regular consumption of peas can help reduce your risk for stomach cancer.
Peas have also been shown to help stabilize blood sugar and reduce risk for Type 2 diabetes.
High in fiber, a 1-cup serving of peas contains nearly one-third of the daily requirement.
Lastly, peas are a good source of B vitamins, which help protect the heart and cardiovascular system.
For this recipe, I like to combine the naturally sweet peas with pineapple and banana for a tropical vibe. If you have time, grate some fresh ginger into the mix — it supports healthy digestion, and give the smoothie a refreshing layer of additional flavor.
